Provides an indication of the prospect for family finances and current buying conditions including dwelling approvals.This index draws together ABS consumer spending data from the Retail Trade Survey 8501.0, Sales of New Motor Vehicles 9314.0, Building Activity 8752.0 and Engineering Construction Activity 8762.0.  The Westpac-Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment Index and the NAB Business Confidence Index support these figures to give an indication of current spending and confidence.

Contains detailed estimates from the quarterly Building Activity Survey. Reliable estimates of private sector building activity are generally available at state, territory and Australia levels. Estimates on for non-residential building jobs are based on those with an approval value over $50,000.
